A little late ....

Only a week late or more if I take into account I actually finished Nanowrimo about four days early! So, anyway, I hit my 50,000 word count goal and breathed a sigh of relief! : ) Were they good words? No, absolutely not. But they were words and ones I didn't have at the beginning of the month so that's definitely a win in my book! : )

Plans going forward - I created a thread in the Nanowrimo forums and managed to keep it going for the whole month, which was great. There was about four of us that commented regularly so we decided we would like to keep in touch to be accountability partners. For that purpose I created a group on Facebook for us that will be kept as a closed group because that's so much easier.

I'm in the process of setting up my Writing Projects bullet journal that I will add photos of when I get it sorted - not sure if bullet journal is the right name, it's a big handmade folder with composition notebooks inside. More like a large traveller's notebook ... you know, that you can't actually travel with! Lol!

Anyway, I'm off to work on it some more and I promise I will put up some photos of it on here and probably Instagram too!

Halfway Through Nanowrimo!!

So, it's the 15th November and we are halfway through Nanowrimo! Woot, woot!! : ) Not doing as great as I wanted to be but on the other hand, I am getting back into the habit of writing every day. That's a bonus in my mind! : )

Got a great little community on Nano forums. I started a thread to get writing buddies and I've been trying to keep it active for the purpose of sounding out ideas or just motivating myself and others.

My novel is a YA novel about dragons because, well ... dragons! Lol! I realised I didn't really outline properly and I've been trying to plow onwards and not use it as an excuse to not do any writing that day. Not that I don't have  slew of excuses to use - 'I really need to wash the windows', 'I have no idea what this character is doing' or today's one which I think is a good one 'I started work at 3 this morning, I need a nap', as valid as it sounds it is just an excuse (okay, I had a nap but I'm still writing!).

My walk to work at 2.30 this morning looked like Silent Hill, very foggy and weird! Crappy pics follow -

Nanowrimo is a great way to get writing every day but it's even better for connecting you with other writers, which really makes a difference for that sense of group madness! So, thanks for reading and I'm off to write some more. Bye!!

About time I put a post up!

So, you've made it to my blog. Unfortunately, I'm not a good blogger. I start off well and then other things catch my attention and my blogs (yes, I've had others) fall by the wayside and I end up abandoning it altogether. I'm hoping this time will be different.

I know ... 'famous last words' right? Well, this time I thought I'd try putting everything together under the one banner - Fantasy Scribbler. I write children's and YA under the name Jacqueline Kirk; my adult stuff under J M Kirk and hoping to write some fantasy romance under the pen name of Jacqueline Morgan. I use these names to make it clear what I am writing and to hopefully create a brand for each.

So Fantasy Scribbler seemed a good 'catch all' name for everything I want to do! I have self-published before - the Space Rats series - but that was mostly for fun tbh. Now I want to take it seriously and build up my own author platform until I am able to do this full time. Living the dream is the goal! : )

If anyone is interested in following along on my writing journey then please bookmark this blog or look for 'Fantasy Scribbler' on the likes of Youtube, Facebook etc ... or use the links at the side to save you time! : )

Now here's a picture of something cute -

This is my daughter's dog, Lamb. She's a little rescue dog from Romania that has somehow ended up in the south west of Scotland! Despite telling my daughter all responsibility is hers I still somehow manage to walk her quite often - funny how that happens! : )
